Enter your current yen, target car price, planned tune budget, and cosmetics cushion. The calculator shows whether your Midnight Racing Tokyo Alpha plan is safe, tight, or short — before you spam Buy at a Tier 3 dealership and realize you cannot afford tires.

What the numbers represent

Current balance is live yen after redeeming Codes — verify ALPHA and other promos on the Codes Hub first.

Car price should match the tier building you are standing in (Vehicle Tiers). Tier 4 requires level 40; do not budget a hypercar at level 22.

Tune budget covers orange-pad parts and iterative testing described in Tuning. Underfunding here is the main reason new players stall after purchase.

Cosmetics cushion is optional flex money for Customization. Set it to zero until your first competitive setup exists.

Suggested workflow

1. Redeem codes on the Codes Hub
2. Pick a candidate from Beginner Cars or the Best Cars Tier List
3. Leave tune money for Tuning — hundreds of thousands minimum for a first serious pass
4. Delay kits if the result is tight
5. Open the Tune Planner immediately after a safe purchase

Example budgets

Starter path: 5,000,000 yen balance after codes, 1,500,000 car, 500,000 tune, 200,000 cosmetics cushion, plus a manual repair buffer you keep off the spreadsheet.

Competitive path: cosmetics at zero until a week of Money and XP loops on Shuto Expressway or Otsuki Touge validates your main.

Show-build path: only after your main from the Best Cars Tier List already has a trustworthy setup and you are level-stable for Tier 4 curiosity.

Windfall protocol

When a large code lands, freeze shopping for ten minutes. Enter the new total into the planner. Raise the repair buffer first, then parts, then consider a car upgrade. Windfalls without protocol become empty garages with nice memories of the code screen.

Level-aware budgets

Annotate your plan with level. A level 15 budget should not include Tier 4. A level 38 budget may include a savings line for Tier 4 inspection at 40 — not a preorder fantasy that skips mid-tier learning. Income rate matters as much as level; see Money and XP.

Repair buffer math

If average repair incidents cost meaningful yen on a map night, size the buffer to survive three incidents. Heavy crashes on Tokyo Bay Area barriers or Shuto walls add up fast with 180+ car choices. If you cannot afford three repairs, change map or car before changing cosmetics.

Emotional spending guards

If the calculator returns “short,” walk away from the dealership UI. Redeem codes or grind before compromising your repair fund. If it returns “tight,” delay Customization and avoid duplicate Buy clicks — a known Alpha annoyance noted on Alpha status.

Income follow-up

If you are short, run the Money and XP loop or wait for legitimate codes — not shady automation on Scripts. Executors risk bans and do not teach driving skill. Mobile Showroom from Gamepasses saves time but not yen.

Couple the planners

After yen allocation, open the Tune Planner and spend the parts line against one symptom only. This coupling is the entire point of the Tools Hub. Test on Shirosato Racing Center when you want a quiet lab.

After purchase

Schedule a tune session immediately. Log results using habits in Tuning. Keep Getting Started handy if you are helping a friend repeat this workflow cleanly.

Review cadence

Re-budget weekly or after patches on Updates. Screenshot totals. If you repeatedly blow the cosmetics cap, lower the cap and move the difference to tires. Honesty beats aspirational spreadsheets. Official economy chatter stays on Official Links — third-party yen articles lag Alpha reality.

Tier jump savings line

If you are level 35+ and eyeing Tier 4 at 40, open a dedicated savings row in the planner instead of mixing it with tune money. Splitting goals prevents accidentally spending your hypercar fund on duplicate bodykit experiments from Customization. When level 40 arrives, re-run the calculator with live dealership prices — Alpha patches occasionally retune vehicle costs without a headline announcement on Alpha status.
